Sometimes we may think it is all just marketing or advertising and that product quality has little to do with it. It is the brand image that has been created, cultivate by expects that make us fall in love with certain brands and products. Why, I ask you is our generation obsessed with wearing big brands that maybe have little to say when it comes to the quality of their offering?
However, consumers are becoming smart- they are cautious. Most of us do not trust the Ad Men of our generation: "This brand of shampoo will repair your split ends and make your hair shine like gold" How many times do we believe these claims?
3M found the perfect solution- what better way to really demonstrate to their target market that their product is what they claim it is? Actions speak louder than words- especially louder than advertising taglines in this case. 3M decided to be brave and be bold. How far were they willing to go to prove that their security glass was really as secure as they say it was? Well, how about putting a huge amount of cash in a 3M glass case outdoors in a very public area?
I really love these sorts of campaigns- they really make you think and engage with the brand- they make you experience the brand first hand and see it in action. People are looking for proof- they won't accept simple claims even if they are true. We have been tricked too many times now!
